Transparent architecture
We want to make distributed cracking workflows understandable by showing how jobs are coordinated, monitored, and executed across multiple services and GPU-enabled workers.
CrackJack began as a student project in March 2026. Since then, we have worked on turning an ambitious idea into a functional prototype for distributed password cracking with GPU-powered workers.
We are students at the Hochschule Furtwangen University, located in the Black Forest in Germany. Our shared background in Computer Science and Cyber Security brought us together for this project.
As part of our bachelor’s studies, the project gave us the opportunity to strengthen our technical skills, improve our team collaboration, and gain practical experience in planning and building a complete product within one semester. Our team consists of eight students currently studying in the fourth and sixth semester.
We chose this project because it allowed us to combine software engineering, distributed systems, and cybersecurity in a way that felt both challenging and exciting. Our goal was to build a tool that distributes password-cracking workloads across multiple machines and uses graphics cards to accelerate computation. At the same time, we wanted to explore the limits of our available resources and understand how far such a system could scale in terms of speed, coordination, and performance.

The platform is designed for academic demos, security labs, and technical discussions around orchestration, backend systems, and distributed computing.
Our approach combines performance, controlled execution, and structured interfaces with a strong focus on practical cybersecurity concepts.
